What are Community Life Groups?

Community Life groups are small groups of people who meet with a purpose and are intentional about having spiritual conversations while following Christ. True spiritual growth happens when people connect face to face. That's hard to do in a church row. With MPC Community Life Groups, we encourage people to move from rows to circles, sharing genuine fellowship with other Christians. Real relationships are built out of shared experiences: meals together, conversations, adventures, serving others together, being there for each other when a need arises, and creating memories together. As we follow Christ together, friendships will emerge and true discipleship will take place.

Finding Calcutta by Mary Poplin

Led by Syndria Lowe

This study will meet Sundays 9:30 am -10:25 am in the Calvary Pastor’s Study. Begins Sept. 16. Books are expected to cost less than $15. Please sign-up asap if you are interested in joining. (Class takes place during Sunday School)

Finding Calcutta is a moving yet humble memoir; the author gives us far more than another story about Mother Teresa. Through the use of the readable chapters, Scripture references from the Old and New Testament, and reflective discussion questions, we are able to see the acts of Jesus and Christianity lived-out in the life of Mother Teresa. The author’s experience of finding Calcutta irrevocably changed her soul and it may change yours as well. Most of us will never journey to Calcutta, India, but please consider journeying with our group to seek after and find YOUR Calcutta!

Unshakable Hope by Max Lucado Led by Molly & Tom Maxwell

This is a 12-week study which will meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Maxwells’ home. Class begins September 18th. The cost of the study guide is $7.99. Every class includes a 10-12 minute video.

This study centers around how we view problems in light of God’s many promises in Scripture. We enjoyed Max Lucado in The Story and hope this book will be thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Please sign up as soon as possible so that we can get the books ordered!

The Gospel of John

Led by the Motte/Gilbert Group

This class will be +/- 12-week study beginning September 23rd. The only materials you will need are a Bible and a journal. If you do not have a Bible, we can fix that. Classes take place on Sundays 9:30 am-10:25 am in Calvary Tower Room. (Class takes place during Sunday School)

We are opening the Bible and jumping right in to the Gospel of John! No prior Bible-reading experience is necessary. Many of you have always wanted to read the Bible and have never started.... well, John is the perfect jumping-off place! The gospel begins with John the Baptist’s ministry, features Jesus’ first miracle in Cana, highlights many of Jesus’ healings, His inspired teachings, His painful challenges, His death, and His Resurrection. All of this from the Spirit-driven words of the Apostle John.

Please join us in cracking open the Bible...WARNING! You will likely be embarking upon a lifelong practice of Bible study.

Living the Spiritual Disciplines: Bible Foundations Class Part II Led by Pastor Justin.

In this new Bible Foundations Class, we will be looking very closely at the biblical support for a number of spiritual disciplines such as fasting, solitude, prayer, evangelism, compassion and others. We will also learn about a few different prayer techniques and methods that draw us closer into God's presence.  This class stands on its own and being a part of the first Bible Foundations Class is not a requirement.  In the future both classes will be offered again and they may be taken in any order.  We will meet on seven Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.  The dates are: September 19th and 26th, October 3rd, 17th, and 24th, November 7th and 14th.
